This is a new section on Softduit. Many people ask me how to promote their blogs and generate more traffic, more readers and more revenue.
As a starting point, let me state that I use and can recommend all of these services. I'm not going to clutter this section up with anything I don't use at least on a weekly basis and doesn't earn money. Many of these tools are used everyday!
Blog Surfing Sites
Update 2 - I updated this post on 7/31/06. Blogclicker my former favorite surfing tool appears to have closed its doors. I have no details why yet, but suspect that it has been replaced with wolfsurfer.
UPDATE 1- I have learned from Google that 2 of the sites below may conflict with Google Adsense Policies. If you do not have Adsense on your blog and what to promote the site and get more readers, I would recommend all of these sites.
If you do have Adsense, I can only recommend BlogExplosion at this time and I'm waiting clarification from Google on the rest (Blogsoldiers, blogmad and Wolfsurfer appear to be sites that allow some people to break the Google Policy and therefore Google seems to preven all traffic from these sites. I do not understand how this is lega from an anti-trust perspective but I will research the issue more.)

Is it against the terms if you use these surfing sites?
These tools require your active participation. Its not automated in the sense that a robot goes to your site and starts clicking on the ads on your site.
This requires the viewer to surf through other people's blogs. It is the same technology that is in place in Blogger itself (The next and previous button).
These sites also offer the service of allowing you to screen for adult content including fowl language or nudity. Some of them also allow you to surf according to content type.
So if you want to look at political blogs, you can surf them to your hearts delight without having to view a sports blog or a dating blog or something, and vice versa.
So they provide a value added service beyond what Blogger itself provides with the same technology in mind.
THE BENEFIT
to you as a member is that your blog gets qued up in the directory to be viewed more with each blog you find.
The other benefit is that you can surf blogs in a less random fashion and find content and people and blogs that you are interested in reading and communicating. As you read and leave comments on their blogs, (meaningful comments no spam) they will take an interest and are more likely to review your blog.
All this creates cross over traffic. This is good for you, its good for Google and its good for advertisers. Their getting active people to view websites and on occassion the ads on those websites.
The program is excellent for attracting new subscribers or regular visitors as well!
